Crocheted Mickey Mouse Hat!

When I made this hat I did not use a pattern though I'm sure there are patterns out there.
Basically all I did was make a beanie and two ears.
Materials: size k hook
black, red, and white yarn (less than a skein of each)
                tapestry needle and scissors

Step one: You start out at the crown using black yarn. You are making your basic crocheted beanie in single crochet. If you do not know how to make a beanie here is a video on how to:
Step two: When you get over half way done making the beanie switch to red yarn and finish the beanie with red.

Step three: Using the black yarn make two circles and then sew them onto the beanie to make the ears

Step four: Using your needle take the white yarn and sew onto the red to make two white oval shapes to make the red look more like Mickey's pants.

Viola you are done!

Boot cuffs

Today I did this extremely quick crochet project which was making boot cuffs!
It literally takes less than 30 minutes to make!!  Wow crazy right? ha!

Materials:
  •   less than a skein of yarn I chose Red Heart Super Saver yarn in the color buff (you can obviously choose any colors you'd like)
  •  crochet hook I did size F 3.75 mm (depending on the weight of the yarn you choose depends on the hook you use for this project)
  •   scissors, tapestry needle etc.

All you are going to do is do the Queen's Lace Edge Stitch. Make sure you chain on enough that will fit around your leg and still chaining in multiple of 16+7 (I had to do a chain of 46 to get the proper length)
If you do not know how to do that then here is a great video showing how to do it.

When you finish you just sew the edges together and voila!

Earbud covers

Since I haven't posted a blog in a while I have decided to look up a quick project for me to do today. I saw this project for crocheting your earbuds. I thought this would be perfect way to customize my earbuds and make them easier to spot if mixed up with other's earbuds. I don't know about y'all but I become and absolute germaphobe when it comes to earbuds so this is perfect for me because it lets me and others know that these earbuds are mine

This project is a crocheted project.

Materials: worsted weight yarn (less than a skein especially if you use two                    different colors)
               a size d crochet hook
               tapestry needle/scissors

Okay so you are first going to make your slip knot but before you tighten it slip one of the ear buds into the knot and tighten.
Then you are going to sc (single crochet) around the ear buds.
To do this hold the cut end of the yarn with the earbud cord and put the hook under the earbud cord and cut end of yarn and draw up a loop from the working yarn and sc like normal.

Whenever you get to where the two buds meet just continue onto the next bud'd cord. then when you get to the top bind off.
Then go back and do the rest. Start it just like you started the other part and end it the same way.

    Hope you enjoyed! :)

New Book

I have been searching for a knitting book that had all sorts of stuff in it like, needle sizes, tips, and lists of knits and purls, cables, lace, etc.
I have finally found a book to my liking pertaining to the list above!
Its called The Knitting Stitch Bible by Maria Parry- Jones.
I got this from Half-Priced Books. You should be able to find this book at any book store.
One of the things I really enjoy about this book so far is that it includes charts and a key on how to read the charts.
So I decided to try a couple out and one that I particularly like is this chart of an anchor.
The picture of the book didn't turn out how I wanted but at least you can see the anchor and get the idea.

I'm not sure what I am going to make with this yet I'm either going to make a checkered baby blanket or a scarf using the colors I used in this little square (white and a turquoise) and use the color black.

Anyways I just wanted to share the book I recently picked up and tell how much of a great book it is for knitters. I mean sure you can just do an online search for charts and stuff but I like the book because its all right here and you don't have to go searching for a picture of it actually knitted or search several websites in search for something you want/need. I don't know I find it nice to have all of it right here in a book for me to look at.

Hope you enjoyed! :)

Update on blanket

So it is taking me a long time to make this blanket that I earlier posted about. Mainly because of Christmas and New Years. Also being sick doesn't help me get the project done.

Now I am back at it again and trying to get it finished very soon so in the meantime here is a picture of my progress so far.
This picture doesn't exactly convey the colors in the best way but its the best picture I got of it right now.

Like I said I haven't gotten much done but at least I'm getting somewhere?
after I get it the right length I want it I'm going to add extra panels on the side to make it wider.

More updates to come!
Hope you enjoy! :)

Etsy

So I have decided to open a shop on Etsy. Since I make a ton of stuff I've decided to put some use to them by selling them! So far I only have two things posted but eventually there will be more.
Here is the link to my shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DaniDKnits
